| The OPFOR provides essential training experiences to soldiers preparing for combat operations in various conditions. Members of the OPFOR team have additional skills in tactical military operations and weapons experience. These individual interact with the soldiers during training events for a real world effect. The OPFOR introduces soldiers to conditions including but not limited to, coordinating an opportunity to meet with local leaders, providing medical support to civilians, assessing the attitudes of the populations in a certain areas, de-escalating a situation by communicating properly with local religious leaders and directing both combatants and non-combatants during offensive operations. Training events such as Convoy Operations, IED/UXO, TCP and CQM are much more effective due to the presence of the OPFOR. During these training events, members of the OPFOR team dress in various styles of Arabic clothing and operate multiple weapons such as the M- 16, M249, 9mm, Pyrotechnic, Smoke, and AK-47 in opposition to provide the most realistic simulated combat environment possible. The OPFOR is self contained in training for mounted and dismounted land navigation, PMI, PLUGGER/GPS, weapons and vehicle PMCS. The accumulative military expertise and years of service of the OPFOR motivates this team of individuals to be the effective opposing force possible. They understand the importance of realistic combat training through their own combat experiences. The OPFOR’s mission is to mirror possible enemy forces and conditions against which soldiers train so they are combat-ready and successful for deployment. |
